Recovering Ratchanok prepares to return

World champion Ratchanok Intanon is expected to return to action at the US$400,000 Denmark Open next month.

The 18-year-old has not played since taking the world title in Guangzhou last month after suffering a back injury in training, forcing her to miss the China Masters and last week's Japan Open.

According to Kanitsara Ngensrisuk, manager of Banthongyord Badminton School, Ratchanok is now better after taking a rest in Japan.

However, she will not be ready to play for Qingtao in the China Badminton Super League.

"We have asked them not to get her to play next week because it is risky," said Kanitsara, adding that the league is more competitive this year.

"If she played, her final match in this session would be on Oct 8. It will be too tough."

Attempting to win a place at the Superseries Finals in December, Ratchanok has four tournaments to play _ the Denmark Open, French Open, China Open and Hong Kong Open.

Currently ranked 14th in the standings, Ratchanok needs to be in the top eight after the Hong Kong Open if she wants to qualify for the Dec 11-15 finals.
