1.4 million speed pills seized

Narcotics suppression police on Friday arrested a suspected drug courier and seized 1.4 million methamphetamine pills with an estimated street value of 420 million baht.

Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen, secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), said the suspect, Jakkrit Butnin, was apprehended while driving a pickup truck in Pathum Thani province.

Police found the yaba pills hidden inside bags containing carpets.

He allegedly confessed to having transported drugs at least 10 times, saying he had been paid  100,000 to 200,000 baht per trip to deliver the drugs from Nim See Seng Co Ltd's branch in Phayao to another branch in Pathum Thani.

Pol Gen Pongsapat said police will meet representatives of Nim See Seng, where Mr Jakkrit was employed as a driver, to discuss the allegation conduct further investigations.
