Wanted train bomber killed in raid

A man wanted for involvement in the bombing of a train in Narathiwat's Rueso district last year was killed in a raid on a house in Rueso district early Monday, reports said.

Three combined units of the Narathiwat Task Force 30 and 49th Rangers Company raided house No 1 in Bucho Bongo village of tambon Sawo about 1.25am, acting on a report Abdulloh Buraheng, 30, was in hiding there.

Abdulloh was a suspect in the bombing of Yala-Sungai Kolok train No 453 at kilometre marker 1075 on Nov 18, 2012.  The explosion caused the train to derail.  A defence volunteer, Panakorn Chumkaew, was killed, and 16 other people were seriously injured.

The security forces surrounded the house and told Abdulloh to surrender.  Abdulloh opened fire and they retaliated, the report said.

Abdulloh was shot four times in the body and killed.  A 9mm pistol was found near his body.

Pol Sub-Lt  Pisith Chatwatanathada of Rueso police station said 18 militants were involved in the train bombing and warrants had been issued for the arrest of four of them - Abdulloh Buraheng, who was killed in the raid,  Mayuding Haji Sani, Maroning Buraheng and Abdulloh Maero.
