Commerce: Sept inflation up 1.42%

Rising food and beverage prices pushed headline inflation to 105.58 in September, up 1.42% on last September, permanent secretary for commerce Srirat Ratthapana said on Tuesday.

The consumer price index (CPI) for the month rose 0.16% on August, Mrs Srirat said.

September's core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, rose 0.61% on last September and an increase of 0.09% on the previous month, to stand at 103.23.

The CPI in the first nine months of the year (January-September) rose 2.36% and the nine months’ average core inflation was up 1.07% on the same period last year.

Price index for food and beverage for September stood at 108.96, up 2.49% on the same month last year and an increase of 0.16% on August.

The index for non-food and beverage stood at 103.57, an increase of 0.85% on last September and up 0.15% on August, she said.
