New wharf improves access to Laos

A wharf has been built in Nakhon Phanom's That Phanom district to serve Thai-Lao transport across the Mekong River.

Deputy Transport Minister Pong Chewananth opened the wharf in tambon That Phanom on Sunday, Marine Department director-general Sornsak Saensombat said.

Mr Sornsak said authorities hope the wharf, which was finished on June 23, will bolster river transport, boost the economy in the area and further strengthen ties between the two countries.
