A man was arrested on Sunday in Nakhon Ratchasima's Si Khiu district with 9kg of crystal methamphetamine, or ice, in his possession.
Pol Maj Gen Supakij Srichantaranont, deputy chief of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, said in a press conference that the man, identified as Chotiros Natrantruk, a tobacco farmer of Nong Khai, was arrested at a checkpoint at Sap Thaewee intersection on the Si Khiu-Khlong Phai road in tambon Nong Nam Sai.
Police found nine bars of crystal methamphetamine, weighing 9kg, in the Toyota pickup truck driven by Mr Chotiros.
Mr Chotiros said he was hired by a Lao man for 50,000 baht to deliver the drugs from Savannakhet, opposite Mukdahan, to a client in Nava Thanee area in Pathum Thani province.
He was charged with having illicit drugs in his possession with intent to sell.
