A traffic radio station reported this morning that a truck loaded with gravel plunged into the hole in front of Ram Intra Soi 21. The MEA is installing underground electricity wires in the area.

Police closed part of Ram Intra Road, forcing motorists to use smaller local roads, reserving use of the main road for public buses.

Internet users commenting on FM. 91 Trafficpro's Facebook page argued that the MEA should have done a better job of highlighting where the roadworks were taking place.

Some proposed the authority be fined 100 baht per minute for causing the traffic jam, while others suggested the MEA also pay damages to the truck owner.

A Facebook comment from an internet user with the alias Pun Pun said: “The MEA should pay for the traffic jam at 100 baht a minute.”

Another user named Ittipol Vatana said: “It is embarrassing because Thailand does not have any road safety. In other countries, when they have roadworks they close the road and put up the traffic cones at least 100m in advance. In Thailand, just a steel sheet is placed to cover the hole, which can move at any time.”
