Singha Park in Chiang Rai will be the venue for this fun event, which will take place on Nov 17.

Organised by Active Management Asia, the inaugural ''Singha Obstacle Fun Run 2013'' will offer exciting routes that travel along scenic trails exploring the mountains, farmlands and tea plantations of these magnificent northern highlands.

Held as part of the ''Farm Festival on the Hill by Singha'', which is set for Nov 13-17, this sporting event is expected to attract more than 500 adventure and nature lovers from all over the country.

Having become increasingly popular around the world, obstacle racing is a sport in which competitors, travelling on foot, must overcome various physical challenges. They combine both mud and trail runs.

Obstacles and challenges include, but are not limited to, climbing over walls, carrying objects, traversing bodies of water (but not swimming), and crawling under nets or through drainpipes.

Many obstacles are similar to those used in military training, whilst others are unique to obstacle racing, and are employed throughout the course to test endurance, strength, speed and dexterity.

Races vary in both distance and difficulty level, combining trail running and cross-country running.

The upcoming race will feature a 7km lap with 10 obstacles along the course. It has three categories to choose from _ a solo 7km course (one lap and 10 obstacles), a solo 14km course (two laps and 20 obstacles), and a team 35km course (five laps and 50 obstacles).

Each team should consist of five runners, and each of the five laps must be completed by two runners from the team. It is up to the team to decide which two runners will complete each lap.
