Protesters march to Defence Ministry

Three protest groups - the Anti-Thaksin Coalition comprising civic groups in all 77 provinces, The People's Democratic Force to Overthrow Thaksinism and the Dhamma Army - are now marching to the Defence Ministry.

Led by Gen Preecha Iamsuphan, Samdin Lertbut and Somkiat Pongpaiboon, the three groups have moved from the Jor Por Ror intersection to the Defence Ministry to demonstrate their intention to reject  the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) ruling on the Preah Vihear dispute, no matter what it may be.

While the groups were passing the rally led by Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban demanding the government drop the amnesty bill by 6pm today, they were greeted by the Democrat-led protesters who applauded in a show of moral support.

Earlier, Maj Gen Chamlong Srimuang announced at a press conference in the name of the Dhamma Army the standpoint of not accepting the ICJ's ruling.

He said the country needed major reform and the amnesty bill in question was only one of the many problems to be tackled.
