Rubber growers on Wednesday announced the end their rally and the blockade of Phetkasem Highway in Bang Saphan district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province to allow the protesters to join the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand's rally at Makkhawan Ransan bridge in Bangkok, <i>Thai Rath</i> online reported.
Tossapol Kwanrod, chairman of the network of rubber and oil palm farmers of 16 southern provinces, said this was agreed at today's meeting of the protesters, who had blocked the Phetkasem Highway at Ban Si Nakhon in tambon Chang Raek in Bang Saphan district for about a month to demand the government guarantee the price of unsmoked rubber sheet at 100 baht per kilogramme.
The protesters will travel to Bangkok to join the anti-government protest by the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand at Makkhawan Rangsan bridge.
About 200 of the self-styled "Tanaisri warriors" would also be sent to provide security for the Bangok rally, he said.
Reports said the rubber protesters have reopened Phetkasem Highway at Bang Saphan district, allowing traffic to flow normally.
