Public debt up B127.9bn in Sept

Net public debt rose by 127.9 billion baht in September from the previous month, the Public Debt Management Office reported on Thursday.

Outstanding public debt totalled 5.43 trillion baht as of Sept 30, or 45.49% of gross domestic product (GDP), the office’s director-general Chularat Sutheethorn said.

Government debt accounts for 3.77 trillion baht of total public debt, while 1.11 trillion baht relates to non-financial institution state enterprises, 541.93 billion baht to financial institution state enterprises and 834.69 million baht to other state agencies, she said.

Government debt increased by 96.69 billion baht in September and debts of non-financial institution state enterprises went up by 13.42 billion baht, the director general said.

Debts of financial institution state enterprises also rose 17.79 billion baht, while debts from other state agencies were unchanged from the previous month, she added.
