Mum, son: Yaba can cure diabetes

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT - A woman and her son were arrested while they were taking methamphetamine pills because they reckoned the drugs would cure diabetes, police said on Sunday.

Police said the suspects were named as Malai and Veerapol Nikomjit.

Mr Veerapol allegedly told police that he bought the drugs from a local market in Nakhon Si Thammarat and shared them with his mother because they believed the pills can be used to treat diabetes and headache.

In Nong Khai province, police arrested a drug courier and seized 1,919 speed pills hidden inside her underwear.

Police said Prayoon Mongkolchai allegedly confessed that she was paid 10,000 baht to cross the border and deliver the drugs to her clients in Laos.
