Seven people were killed and eight seriously injured when a tour bus and a pickup truck collided in Buri Ram's Muang district on Sunday night, police said.
The tour bus with about 30 passengers from Mukdahan province was heading for Rayong province when it collided with the pickup truck travelling in the opposite direction at kilometre marker 27 on the Buri Ram - Nang Rong road near Ban Kraduang in tambon Song Hong of Buri Ram's Muang district.
The accident occurred about 11.30pm on Loy Krathong night.
The pickup truck was taking passengers, most of them paddlers, back home from boat races in Rayong to Buri Ram.
Nikorn Passawakang, the tour bus driver, told police that the pick-up veered over the road centre line and collided head-on with the bus.
Six men and one woman in the pickup truck were killed and eight others seriously injured. The injured were admitted to Buri Ram Hospital.
