Two wounded in Pattani school attack

Two defence volunteers were wounded by an improvised bomb thrown from a motorcycle while providing security at a school in Sai Buri district of Pattani province on Monday morning, police said.

The attack occurred about 10.30am. Two men on a motorcycle approacvhed the school and one threw an improvised bomb made of a PVC pipe, weighing an estimated 5kg, onto the basketball court of Ban Jakhe School in tambon Paen.

The bomb exploded and two defence volunteers received head wounds.Sarawut Songbut, 21, and Ibrohing Purong, 19, were both were admitted to Sai Buri Hospital for treatment.

The other six defence volunteers manning other spots at the school were not hurt. 

The school was immediately closed and will not reopen until Thursday, Nov 21.
