After having toured the Netherlands and Switzerland last year, Pichet Klunchun Dance Company's famous Black And White will debut to a Thai audience. Inspired by the battle scenes of Ramayana murals, the celebrated contemporary choreographer Pichet explores the inherent human struggle between good and bad.

Black And White embarks on a search for the delicate equilibrium of opposing forces, which must be found to achieve inner peace. In this piece, planes of perception are the driving forces to viewing compositions of dancing bodies. When does struggle become support?

How does confrontation turn into acceptance? What does it take to embrace and sense rather than to resist and reject? Black And White was commissioned and first presented by Esplanade _ Theatres on the Bay, Singapore, as part of the 2011 dance festival. The show features six dancers including Pichet. This time round he also works hand-in-hand with critically acclaimed musician Wu Na who provides live Chinese "guqin" music, and Japanese lighting designer Miura Asako who illuminates the stage.

Black And White will be staged at Chulalongkorn University's Sodsai Pantoomkomol Centre for Dramatic Arts, today at 7.30pm (tickets sold out) and tomorrow at 2pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost 500 baht (200 baht for students). Call 02-218-4802, 081-559-7252 or 080-924-0002.
