Protesters outside Foreign Ministry

Members of the Network of Students and People for Thailand's Reform (NSPTR) have rallied in front of the Foreign Ministry in a protest against the minister, Surapong Tovichakchakul, accusing him of serving the interests of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Led by its adviser Nitithorn Lamlua and coordinator Uthai Yodmanee, the network's protesters asked the Foreign Ministry to advise other countries to nullify agreements made with Thailand, arguing that this government lacks  the legitimacy to govern the country.

Mr Surapong, in particular, had concentrated on helping, providing assistance, and maintaining the interests of Thaksin, not the people or the country, they said.

They called on ministry officials to go begin a civil disobedience campaign by defying instructions given by the foreign minister.
