Protesters tell Channel 5, be impartial

The army-run Channel 5 television station has been told by the Ratchadamnoen protesters to be impartial in its news reporting.

The protesters arrived at the station's head office on Phahon Yothin road shortly before noon.

Former Democrat list MP Issara Somchai, the march leader, passed this message to the station management during a 30-minute meeting with Maj Gen Vorathep Boon-ariya, the assistant station director.

Maj Gen Vorathep said the people can rest assured that Channel 5 adheres to a policy of being impartial in news reporting, as laid down by army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Soldiers are politically neutral, he added.
