Flowers are blooming in Chiang Mai, and you have three months to appreciate them at the famous Royal Park Rajapruek, which will open its doors for the Flora Festival 2013 on Dec 1.

Organised in collaboration with Highland Research and Development Institute (Public Organisation) and the Royal Project Foundation to mark HM the King's birthday, the horticulture event will display many kinds of temperate flowers.

Other highlights include an amazing vegetable pergola, seven special dishes from the Royal Project restaurants, HM the King's New Theory Farming, beautiful cultivated gardens and a dancing fountain.

The three-month festival will also feature many activities such as an orchid contest, folk music and cultural performances from many countries.

Set to serenade the visitors amid the flowery surroundings will be famous artists such as Aof Pongsak, Lula, Pop Pong Kool, Two Popthorn, ETC, King The Voice and Lanna singers.

The park will also be hosting special activities on several festive occasions such as Christmas and New Year's celebrations, Children's Day, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day.

The flora festival opens daily 8am to 8pm starting Dec 1 until Feb 28. Entry fee is 100 baht (50 baht for children and 25 baht for students in uniforms and people above the age of 60).

Special tickets with unlimited numbers of visits cost 400 baht.
