GAT, PAT exams moved to March

GAT, PAT exams moved to March

Political uncertainty has forced the postponement of the first General Aptitude Test (GAT) and the Professional and Academic Aptitude Test (PAT) exams for three months.

The two tests were set for Dec 7-10 but the National Institute of Education Testing Service announced on Wednesday the new schedule slated for March 8-11 next year.

The tests will be held in 18 places, including some centres close to rally sites.

Director Somphan Phunruek said the institute was concerned about possible protests this weekend which could affect students travelling to take the exams at the centres close to the demonstrations.

The results of the GAT and PAT in March will be announced on April 24, it said.

The second tests previously planned for March 8-11 next year are also rescheduled to April 26-29 and the outcome is expected to be made public on May 29, it added.

Somkit Lertpaitoon, the chairman of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand, said the new dates will not disrupt the direct recruitment and central admission for the next academic year as the next university semester will open in August, Mr Somphan quoted him as saying.
