Original national anthem to be performed

The rarely-heard original version of Phleng Chat _ or the Thai national anthem _ will be performed by the Royal Thai Air Force Symphony Orchestra during a celebratory concert next week.

Organised by Phra Jenduriyang Foundation and TOT, the second "Ruam Luad Nua Chart Chua Thai" concert is aimed to mark HM the King's 86th birthday anniversary and to pay tribute to Phra Jenduriyang who composed the melody of the song.

Set for Dec 10 at 7pm at Aksra Theatre on Rang Nam Road, the concert will feature several of HM's compositions, patriotic songs composed by Phra Jenduriyang, a selection of songs from Broadway musicals and soundtrack songs from famous movies, as well as contemporary Thai songs, luk thung and pop songs.

The repertoire will be performed by a selection of quality artists from many generations including Koravee Soonthonvipat, the country's first opera singer with a degree from Italy.

The line-up also includes King Pichet and Jenny from The Voice, Tui Kiatkamol AF3, Ice AF9, Ann AF6, Deer Acappella 7, Nong Pukan Nadtawan, Traithip Siwakritkul and the Little Angels chorus from Wattana Wittayalai School.

Tickets cost 800-1,500 baht from Thai Ticket Major. Proceeds will go to the Phra Jenduriyang Foundation.
