Pheu Thai is aiming for another landslide victory in the upcoming elections and is preparing its candidate lists for the poll, party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said on Tuesday.
Mr Prompong said Pheu Thai expected to win at least 265 seats in the general election set for Feb 2.
More than 500 candidates applied to run as list-MPs and more than 400 as constituency MPs for the party, he added.
The number of applicants was high because former MPs and members of Houses No.111 and 109 were able to put themselves forward, he said.
He was referring to the 111 and 109 members of Pheu Thai's predecessor parties, People Power and Thai Rak Thai, who have recently completed five-year political bans for election fraud.
Pheu Thai won 265 out of 500 seats in the last election in 2011.
For list-MP candidates, Pheu Thai will begin processing completed application forms on Dec 19, before finalising its selection on Dec 22, the spokesperson said. The list of constituency candidates will be confirmed on Dec 23 and Dec 26-27.
The Election Commission says parties must register candidates for list-MP seats from Dec 23-27, and for constituency seats from Dec 28-Jan 1.
Mr Prompong said Pheu Thai's election campaign will focus on business and national political reform.
In the Democrat stronghold South, Pheu Thai will focus on four provinces - Yala, Narathiwat, Pattani, and Satun, he added.
Pheu Thai executive members agreed in a meeting on Tuesday that they and party leader Charupong Ruangsuwan would handle the MP selection process and drafting of election policies. Sompong Amornwiwat, former leader of the defunct People Power Party, was selected to be Pheu Thai's election director.
