NY road toll: 86 dead, 885 injured

Road accidents on Dec 28, the second day of the "seven dangerous days of New Year", claimed the lives of 47 people and injured 486, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department announced on Sunday.

That increased the road toll for the first two days to 86 killed and 885 injured from 866 accidents.

Most of the accidents (81.52%) involved motorcycles. The accidents were caused by drunk driving (37.13%) and driving over the speed limit (23%).
