SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

In Japan just as in Thailand, New Year's celebrations are part of a year-end festive season coinciding with the Western calendar.

This season, Kisso Japanese restaurant at The Westin Grande Sukhumvit presents the finest of Japan's own New Year tradition, known as Oshogatsu, with special dishes and menus during the period. Indeed Kisso's focus on seasonal variation year round means guests will enjoy a dining experience that's true to every Japanese tradition.

On New Year's Eve (or Omisoka as the day is called in Japan), December 31, 2013, Chef Shinsuke Yonekawa will prepare Toshikoshi Soba. Here as always the chef has imported carefully selected ingredients fresh from Japan to create a specialty precisely as it's prepared in Japan. The savory hot noodle dish, traditionally enjoyed at year end, contains black wheat noodle with fish cake, prawn tempura, soft boiled egg, konbu kelp, wakame seaweed, spring onion, and fried and simmered tofu in fish stock and soy sauce soup. B500++. Available dinner time only.
