All of the expressways are open as usual and there has been no reason to close any at this stage, the Expressways and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (Exat) said in an announcement on Sunday.
The announcement was issued after some news media reported that Exat would close several exits such as at Silom, the Victory Monument and Sukhumvit road in the wake of the planned shutdown of Bangkok by the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protesters on Monday.
Exat has already formulated plans to cope with the protest situation. The closure of an expressway could only be made on the order of the authority's governor.
Exat will base any decision on closing an expressway on the severity of the protest situation. Before doing so, it will immediately notify the public through its public relations outlets.
