K-Water set to work with next govt

The Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water) is looking to work with the next government on the 350-billion-baht water management and flood prevention scheme, which has been delayed by to the House dissolution.

The firm won two of the nine modules under the water management scheme and was expected to sign a contract with the government early this year.

However, the contract signing was delayed following the Dec 9 House dissolution.

The scheme could also face further delays following a Supreme Administrative Court judge's recommendation last week that the government should hold public hearings on the nine modules before embarking on the project.

The court is expected to rule on the case soon.

Monthon Panupokin, managing director of K-Water, said his firm was concerned about the political situation.

K-Water will wait to see whether the new government continues with the project.

As the House was dissolved, all procedures had to be put on hold, Mr Monthon said, adding the firm would look into a draft contract and examine it again pending talks with the new government.
