Protests force PTT HQ to close

National oil and gas conglomerate PTT Plc on Tuesday announced that it has temporarily closed its head office in Bangkok due to ongoing anti-government protests, but has pledged to continue normal business operations.

On Monday, the first day of the People's Democratic Reform Committee Bangkok Shutdown rally, a group of protesters gathered in front of the Energy Ministry building on Vibhavadi road, near to PTT headquarters. This prompted the company to decide to temporarily close the offices, PTT chief executive Pailin Chuchottaworn said in a press release.

PTT will implement its business continuity management plan, to make sure that the company can continue to operate without affecting business partners and stakeholders. The plan will remain in place until the protest situation returns to normal, Mr Pailin said.

Bangchak Petroleum president Vichien Usanachote said the company will continue to supply energy to consumers as normal.
