Drive-by shooting at NSPRT rally

An unidentified gunman opened fire on security guards manning barricades at Nang Loeng protest site late Wednesday night, but no one was injured.

The shooting took place at the entrance to the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand (NSPRT) protest base at Nang Loeng intersection at about 11.30pm.

Nusser Yehama, head of NSPRT guards, told police a Bangkok-registered white Honda Jazz with the licence plate number 1 Kor Yor 8088 was driven by and a gunman inside the vehicle fired six shots at his men. The car sped off, heading toward Yommarat intersection, he said.

In a separate incident, a homemade bomb was thrown near the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) rally site at the Lat Phrao five-way intersection at about midnight.  No injuries were reported.

PDRC security guard Suppachoke Kongrin said the bomb was hurled from the Lat Phrao flyover but it hit the flyover railing and exploded before it reached the ground.
