Huge drug bust in Saraburi

Highway police have seized more than two million methamphetamine pills with a street value of 600 million baht hidden in a pickup truck in Saraburi’s Muang district early Saturday, reports said.

Hin Kong highway police officers Pol Sen Sgt Maj Kumrit Kaew-ampai and Pol Sen Sgt Maj Suppanat Chaikoti were patrolling along the Phu Kae-Lomsak road at 3:30am when they spotted a suspicious pickup truck passing by at high speed and decided to follow it.

The pickup driver sped away in the vehicle, licence plate No 3242 Bangkok, in the direction of Muang district.

Police chased the pickup truck into Muang Saraburi municipality, where it lost control, slammed into a railway fence and finally stopped. The driver and a passenger escaped and ran away into a roadside forest.

Police searched the pickup truck and found 2,244,000 yaba pills hidden inside. A search for the two suspects was underway.
