BMA schools to open Monday

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered all schools except one in seven districts to open from Monday.

Only Wat Pathumwanaram School, situated close to Ratchaprasong intersection, will remain closed for one more day due to safety reasons.

The BMA ordered the closure of 146 schools at the beginning of the “Bangkok shutdown” operation on Jan 13 by anti-government protesters under the People’s Democratic Reform Committee.

However, school directors have the authority to order their schools to close again for up to three days while district chiefs can close them from three to seven days to if they decide conditions are not suitable, according to Deputy Governor Atthaporn Suwatthanadecha.
