The name of the new Supreme Patriarch nominee has been forwarded to His Majesty the King.

Nopparat Benjawatananun, director-general of the National Office of Buddhism, on Tuesday quoted the Office of HM's Principal Private Secretary as saying it had forwarded the name of the nominee to His Majesty the King for final approval.
The National Office of Buddhism chose Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamangalachan, the 88-year-old abbot of Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen temple, to become the acting Supreme Patriarch, succeeding His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara who passed away on Oct 24 last year.
