Emergency decree not discussed

The issue of whether to invoke the executive decree for the administration in emergency situations was not raised for discussion at this morning's meeting of the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (Capo), according to National Security Council (NSC) chief Paradorn Pattanatabut.

Lt Gen Paradorn said at this morning's full meeting of Capo the main issue raised for discussion was  joint operations by the military and police to provide security for the People's Democratic Reform Commitee's  (PDRC) protesters following the spate of violent attacks on the demonstrators.

Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra did not attend the Capo meeting, but would chair a cabinet meeting in the afternoon, he said.

Ms Yingluck had earlier asked Capo to thoroughly study the pros and cons of invoking the emergency decree.  Security-related agencies would evaulate the situation before making a decision and recommendation, Lt Gen Paradorn said.
