The caretaker government has banned gatherings of five or more people deemed to be trying to incite unrest as part of its measures to "quickly put to an end" to the emergency situation.

The announcement, signed by caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and released on Thursday, also urged the media not to publish any information that could cause misunderstanding and affecting national security.
The order is enforced in all locations under the emergency decree. Full details will be released later, it added.
Democrat Party spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut on Wednesday demanded the decree be revoked as it was damaging tourism and dampening foreign confidence in Thailand. He said there were no grounds to declare the state of emergency.
He urged the caretaker government to shift its efforts to tackling the rice-pledging scheme as farmers are rallying for money after payments had been delayed.
