Civilians slain, rangers hurt in South

Two civilians were killed and a third wounded, and two rangers wounded in attacks in Yala and Narathiwat on Wednesday morning, reports said.

In the first attack, two villagers were killed and another seriously injured in a shooting in a rubber plantation in Narathiwat’s Rueso district.

According to witnesses, Mohamad Sahoh, 29, his brother Aryub, 28, and Masor Laedeeyoh, 30, were sitting in front of their hut in the rubber plantation when gunmen fired at them with shotguns.

Mohamd and Masor died on the spot. Aryub was critically wounded and taken to hospital.

Police were inspecting the scene.

In the second attack, two paramilitary rangers providing security for teachers were wounded by two bomb explosions on a road in Yala’s Yaha district.

About 7.40am, rangers from Company 4705 were patrolling on foot along a rural road in front of Wangsamran school in Ban La-air of Yaha when the two home-made bombs were detonated.

The two injured rangers were taken to Yaha hospital.
