Commercial banks have 123.26 billion baht in cash reserves available to serve the expected strong demand during the Chinese New Year celebration, reports said.
The Bangkok Bank has reserved 35 billion baht at its nationwide branches and auto teller machine (ATM) booths, while Siam Commercial Bank has 32 billion baht available.
The state-owned Krung Thai Bank has a cash reserve of 28.17 billion baht available, Bank of Ayudhya 20.58 billion baht and Thai Military Bank 7.5 billion baht.
The size of the cash reserve for this year's festivities is only slightly more than last year because the continuing political turbulence has caused people to be more careful in their spending, according to the reports.
