More than 11,000 people had filed complaints with police saying they were obstructed from voting, and a total of 57 cases involving election law violations, were received between Jan 9 and Feb 2, election day, Royal Thai Police spokesman Piya Uthayo said on Tuesday.
Most of the 57 election violation complaints, 23 filed on election day, related to obstructing others from voting, accusing government officials of malfeasance and the tearing of ballot papers, Pol Maj Gen Piya said.
Other offences included infringing the alcohol sales ban, violating the emergency decree and assault.
A total of 11,041 people lodged complaints with police saying they were unable to exercise their voting rights due to the political unrest on polling day, Pol Maj Gen Piya said.
Police also seized four guns from three men, one of them an army officer attached to the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, at checkpoints erected in Bangkok and its vicinity as part of security measures in the leadup to the Feb 2 poll.
Authorities were checking if the seized weapons were used in violent incidents during the anti-government protests, Pol Maj Gen Piya added.
