For fashion label Sretsis — which is “sisters” spelled backwards — profound spirituality and natural wonders have always been championed. The three sisters who founded the brand are known for their cheeky, ultra-feminine touch, and seem to genuinely believe in magical healing powers and supernatural connections to Earth. The “Children of the Stars” S/S 14 collection drives their faith in humanity and higher beings even further.

The collection is inspired by the sisters’ Bali retreat, where a guru instructed them to concentrate on universal interconnectivity and energy flow from one organism to the next. Binding together under the same sky, Sretsis would like us to believe we are all related, since we are all children of the stars.

The collection heavily leans on astrology, especially its signs and symbols that have been expertly reinterpreted onto prints by premier illustrator and regular brand collaborator Terawat Teankaprasith. The main print is also named “Children of the Stars”, and uses astrologically correct star signs. But each symbol has been twisted — Scorpio, for example, doesn’t appear insectile, but rather as a noble lady with a long, flowing braid made to look like a scorpion’s tail.

Sretsis traces the collection as journey, from the universe to the ocean to a tropical paradise. Each plays accordingly with Mother Nature’s strongest suits, representing different moods and tones during the course of the day.

“We want to create something that spiritual travellers would be comfortable wearing, but never neglecting the subtle luxurious effects with a bit of glamour while staying in touch with one’s inner self. We want this collection to be an acknowledgement of shared space and tranquility,” said Pim Sukhahuta, Sretsis founder and creative director.

For the first time, Sretsis is using laminated lace to create an all-terrain feel for cosmic travellers. Special techniques include double printing, faux stitching, embossed leather labels and raw edges.

The accompanying jewellery line mainly plays around with 12 zodiac sings while accessories see another exciting collaboration with homegrown bag designer Rudimentary. The “Children of the Stars” bag line comes in all shapes and sizes, including backpacks, buckets, tote bags and waterproof weekenders.
