The Justice Ministry will pay compensation to two journalists who were wounded while covering violent clashes during recent anti-government rallies.
The journalists — Thai Rath newspaper reporter Sorawit Chamnongrit, 37, and Daily News reporter Chirawat Sukhanon, 30 — will receive 20,000 baht and 10,000 baht respectively for medical expenses, Rights and Liberties Protection Department Narat Sawettanan said yesterday.
Sorawit was hit in the chest by a bullet at the Thai-Japanese Stadium on Dec 26 and Chirawat suffered shrapnel wounds on Feb 1 at Laksi intersection.
Both Sorawit and Chirawat are now safe.
