Police said they found 12 homemade explosives, 22 giant firecrackers, one teargas cannister, four bags of nitrate powder and a lot of knotted rope and marbles at an anti-government rally site near the Energy Ministry complex on Tuesday.

Pol Col Kamthorn Ouicharoen, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's explosive ordnance disposal squad, said 26 protection vests and 31 metal helmets were also found during an operation to retake besieged government buildings in Bangkok.

Reports said PTT executives and top officials of the Energy Ministry would inspect the offices on Tuesday afternoon before allowing staff to return to work.
