Bang Na office boosts passport service

Passport office at Queen Sirikit Convention Centre to close

The Bang Na passport office will increase its services to process up to 2,000 passport applications a day from Monday to offset the closure of the office at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, the Department of Consular Affairs said on Wednesday.

The convention centre office, which can handle up to 700 applications a day, will close on Friday as the department is unable to extend the lease.

The department said it would increase the application handling quota at Bang Na branch from 1,200 to 2,000 a day from Monday. Applicants will receive their passports by mail within seven days.

In Bangkok, the department's Pin Klao branch can still service 1,100 applicants a day.

The department is able to accept around 6,000 passport applicants a day at 17 locations nationwide.

However, it has not yet been able to reopen the service at its headquarters on Chaeng Wattana Road.
