Food supplement seller probed by DSI

Food supplement seller probed by DSI

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is investigating complaints of fraud against a business claiming to sell food supplements.

Ukrit Sanongkhun, 35, of Saraburi, complained to the DSI he had been cheated out of 100,000 baht by a firm which posed as a seller of food supplements at the Imperial World Department Store in the Lat Phrao area.

The firm promised him he would get a return of 90,000 baht for every 50,000 baht invested over 90 days.

However, after a while, it failed to honour the payments and closed its office.

The firm could not be reached by phone, he said. Mr Ukrit said many people had been tricked into investing in the business, losing hundreds of thousands of baht.

Pol Col Paisit Wongmuang, deputy DSI chief, said investigators will begin taking statements from the damaged parties soon.

He has advised those affected to file a complaint together so their cases can be handled by the DSI under the agency’s regulations.

The deputy DSI chief cautioned people against investing in businesses that promise to deliver unrealistically high returns.

The vendor's name was not announced.
