A man was killed and his wife left critically wounded in a drive-by shooting in Narathiwat province on Wednesday night.
Pol Col Jongjairak Kongphao, chief of Sungai Padi police, said the attack occurred on Sungai Kolok-Sungai Padi road at Ban Kuwa in tambon Riko of Sungai Padi about 8pm.
Witnesses said Wisan Kamlert, 51, and his wife Angkana Chinukul, 47, were travelling on a motorcycle along the road when a gunman riding pillion on another motorbike fired at them with a 9mm handgun. The attackers stole the victims’ motorbike before fleeing.
Wisa died on the spot. His wife sustained a critical injury and was taken to Sungai Kolok hospital.
Police blamed separatist militants.
