American DJ dies in Phuket

PHUKET - Josh Ezelle, an American expat disc jockey, was killed in a motorbike accident in tambon Srisoonthorn in Thalang district on Friday morning.

Ezelle, 42, originally from San Francisco, had moved to the island from Bangkok recently. Last year he started working as a DJ at the Diamond Beach Club at Surin Beach until a month ago.

Thalang police said the crash happened around 7am near Kokmoo curve in the Srisoonthorn area when Ezelle, on a motorbike, was in collision with a tour bus.

The bus driver, Isara Lalamkon, 47, told police that he was driving from Cherng Talay to pick up a group of Chinese tourists at Koh Siray. The bus and the motorbike, both travelling the same way, collided on a bend, Mr Isara said.

The bus driver was taken to Thalang police station for further questioning about the crash. Ezell’s body was taken to Thalang Hospital.

DJ Kensho, aka Mat Vinyl, told The Phuket News that Ezelle was highly respected in the industry, especially in Bangkok.
