'Open' Thailand campaign unveiled

Caretaker Deputy Interior Minister Pracha Prasopdee on Monday announced plans to kick off an “open” Thailand campaign next week, in a move to rectify damage caused by the People's Democratic Reform Committee's (PDRC) Bangkok Shutdown.

Mr Pracha said the campaign would invite people from all political groups and government officials to take part in activities to “open the country” now the PDRC shutdown is over.

The campaign's logo will be a heart symbol with the word “open” inside.

Mr Pracha stressed that the campaign opposed the idea of separating the country and aimed to foster harmony among Thais and peace within society. It will be launched in the Greater Bangkok area initially. Campaign T-shirts will be available and the drive will be advertised on billboards in the city.

He did not elaborate further on what kind of activities would be organised under the campaign.

“I invite everyone to join and together help build harmony, mend the rifts, uphold the [royal] institution, create democracy, clean up the dirt and wipe out evil people who plan to overthrow the government or tear up the constitution,” Mr Pracha said.
