The Constitution Court will rule whether the government's 2.2-trillion-baht borrowing bill breached the constitution on March 12 at 9.30am, the court's chief spokesman Pimol Thampitakpong said on Wednesday.
The announcement was made after today's meeting of the Constitution Court.
"The meeting set next Wednesday to deliver an oral statement and a ruling," Mr Pimol said.
The huge borrowing bill has already been passed by the Senate. It authorises the Finance Ministry to seek loans totalling 2.2 trillion baht for infrastructure development projects, most of which is earmarked to fund high-speed trains.
Following the Senate's passage of the bill, the Democrat Party immediately lodged a petition with the Constitution Court, asking it to rule on whether the legislation breaches the constitution.
The Election Commission (EC) has meanwhile asked the Constitution Court to rule if the agency has the authority to organise a poll re-run in 28 constituencies where protests prevented candidates registering for the Feb 2 election.
Mr Pimol said the court received the request yesterday, but was not sure whether it would be raised for consideration next week.
