Prosecutors on Monday indicted three former Democrat Party MPs on charges of defaming caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
They are former party-list MP Chavanond Intarakomalyasut, former Nakhon Si Thammarat MP Tepthai Senpong, and former Songkhla MP Sirichok Sopha.
According to the lawsuit, the three former MPs made defamatory remarks about the prime minister in relation to her meeting with a group of businessmen at the Four Seasons Hotel in 2012.
The alleged defamation was made in a television programme hosted by the three on BlueSky Channel on Feb 10, 2012.
The Criminal Court accepted the lawsuit for further proceedings, releasing the three on 50,000 baht bail each.
The premier met a group of businessmen at the Four Seasons Hotel on Feb 8, 2012.
At the time she was accused of skipping a House meeting that it was her duty to attend. Critics also alleged that the Four Seasons meeting was personal, unethical and raised a conflict of interest.
Ms Yingluck has always insisted that the meeting was set up so she could hear the businessmen's opinions on the country's economic problems. She denied the meeting discussed the valuation of land to be used as floodway or water retention areas, as alleged.
