Tea and coffee showcase is brewing

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

World-class coffee and tea from some of the globe’s most ancient original sources will be the highlights of the “Future Park International Coffee & Tea Showcase 2014”, running from Thursday to March 24.

Held for the second year at the Cascata, ground floor of Future Park, the five-day fair is a rare chance to try the authentic tastes of coffee from Ethiopia, Yemen, India, Indonesia and Jamaica.

The aromatic drinks will be served in the atmosphere of each of the country’s traditional coffee shops where guests can watch the original coffee-
and tea-making techniques.

More than 30 well-known shops will also be there to offer their signature cups in an indoor garden filled with music. The highlights will include unique recipes of Ethiopian coffee and China’s Pu-erh tea — both of which are said to be as old as 1,000 years.

To be launched for the first time in Thailand at the event will be violet tea, or ziya tea. It is produced from the violet evergreen shrub which, when boiled, produces yellowish tasteful tea. It is hailed as a healthy tea as it contains free radicals.

Also back for the second time will be the “TCTA Latte Art Competition Thailand”, which will see talented baristas showing off their special techniques to create 3D frothed milk art to vie for a trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn.

Future Park shopping centre is located on Phahon Yothin Road. Call 02-958-0011.
