Caretaker Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra appeared in a wheelchair on Tuesday after she fell to the ground and injured her ankle as she stepped out of her van last week.

"The doctors told me that I have a torn ankle ligament and it will take one to two months to fully recover," Ms Yingluck said before attending the weekly cabinet meeting at the Royal Police Cadet Academy on Tuesday. "The doctors told me not to put much weight on my leg."

The caretaker premier said she will continue to do her job and will not cancel any major planned events.

A video clip widely circulated on social media showed the prime minister slipping to the ground when she stepped out of the Volkswagen minivan in Chiang Mai on Saturday.

Anti-government groups on Monday raised questions about Sunday's lottery draw numbers that matched the last few digits of the licence plates of vehicles used by the caretaker prime minister.

They say it may have been fixed by the Government Lottery Office (GLO).

The licence plate numbers of various vehicles used by Mr Yingluck have been drawn several times before in the lottery.
