Tambon leaders escape Pattani bomb

A well-known tambon chief and two deputy chairmen escaped unhurt when their vehicle was hit by a bomb in Muang district, Pattani province on Tuesday night.

Muang district police chief Pol Col Tuandir Juthanant said the incident took place at about 10.30pm as tambon Baraho kamnan Baharudin Yuso was travelling in a pick-up truck with two deputy chairmen from the Baraho tambon administration organisation.

The group were on their way home from a mosque where Mr Baharudin had been giving a religious sermon.

The vehicle was making its way over a bridge near a school at Ban Duerahae when a bomb burried nearby was detonated. The explosion damaged the front of the pick-up truck, but the three men inside escaped unhurt.

Police were investigating the incident.
