‘Art is always the heart of my design. Most of my fashion pieces have been inspired by the beauty and charm of art,” said Anchalee Vikasitnakkul, the designer behind the success of Anchavika, a home-grown fashion label well-known for its unique artistic design.

This avant-garde designer celebrated the label’s first year of success yesterday with the launch of “Princess of Art”, her stunning art-inspired spring/summer 2014 collection. It was warmly welcomed by crowds of young fashionistas who flocked the Event Hall of Central Chidlom to check out this trendy summer collection.

According to the designer, “Princess of Art” portrays one of the most astonishing and glorious eras of art — the Renaissance. The collection is also highly influenced by the work of HSH Princess Marsi Sukhumbhand Paribatra, one of Thailand’s leading artists, known for her unique, figurative-style oil paintings full of intricate details and fascinating mythological elements.

This collection reflects such artistic beauty, explained Anchalee, with a Renaissance-inspired touch and aesthetic grace. The artistic aspect of the collection is complemented by the use of brilliantly blended fine materials. There are, for instance, mixes of chiffon and letter, duchess and net, and velvet and jeans. Notably, this collection uses a sophisticated cutting technique with genuine leather, resulting in elegant pieces with a fascinating look and feel.

Colour also works magic here. Despite a main theme of black, the collection incorporates several happy summer hues such as blue, yellow, gold, bronze and green.

What also makes this collection so unique is the exotic metal accessories, such as tiger-head buttons, skulls and peonies, which promise to make a unique statement.
