The World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) has organised the second “Happy TB-Free Friday” event today to raise awareness of the prevention, detection and treatment of tuberculosis (TB).

Running from 10am to 4pm at WVFT’s national office, the event offers a free mobile chest X-ray service from the Bureau of Tuberculosis, Department of Disease Control and free health check-up services from Health Centre 21 Wat That Thong medical teams.

Visitors will learn more about the disease from an exhibition about TB and other respiratory diseases.

A representative of the deputy governor of Bangkok will preside over the opening ceremony, followed by a “Stop TB in Thailand” discussion conducted by Dr Yuthichai Kasetjaroen. Joining him will be football star Teeratep “Leesaw” Winothai, who will speak about how to keep physically fit to fight off TB.

There are also music performances by R-Siam singers including Kluay, Yim, Luktarn and Den, as well as fun games with prizes from WVFT’s partners.

There is no admission fee and everyone is invited. The WVFT’s national office is located on Ekamai Road between Soi Ekamai 26 and 28.
